Since graduating from Edinburgh college of Art with an honours degree in 1995, Serena has worked full time as a professional artist. She has completed numerous private and commercial commissions, which eventually led her to opening her own studio and gallery in Southwold. The Serena Hall Gallery opened in the year 2000 and exhibits a collection of Serena's highly original ceramics, mixed media sculpture and paintings. She also displays work by other contemporary artists/designers. Originally from London, Serena moved to Suffolk with her family aged twelve. It was here, with the inspirational views from the family home in Ferry Road that Serena started to paint seriously. Her trademark broad brushstrokes and vibrant use of colour is typical of her style. Serena was the overall winner of Oil of Olay/Princes Trust Award for Visionary Women 2001. She also won the creative category. The gallery was short listed for Rural business of the year's award 2001, country living magazine. Serena is currently working on various long term projects which include illustrating and writing a series of children's books, setting up The Southwold tile company (Specialising in handmade decorative tiles) and designing a range of her own wrapping papers. Meanwhile she continues to work daily in her studio producing exciting work for her gallery. |
